2017 Open Water Swim

The 12th annual Presque Isle Open Water swim was held on Saturday August 12th.

Our 12th annual open water swim was held the second Saturday in August at Crystal Point in Presque Isle Harbor. Presque Isle Harbor Association hosted the event.  The fun event  was made possible with the help of so many great helpers.  A very supportive Plaza Pool lifeguard contingent, great kayak preparation team and kayakers, and the timing team made it all work smoothly.

The overall winner of the half mile race was Rachel Suszek in 16:07 with Alan Dziesinski the first male finisher in 27:14.  The quarter mile race was won by Kaitlyn Lysen in 8:12 with Patrick Kearly as the first male finisher in 9:41.  The one mile race was won by Christian Vanderkaay in 24:28 with the first female finisher, Heather Mayer crossing the line in 32:42.

The day stayed dry, while the wind slowly picked up, making the one mile and the quarter mile swims even more of a challenge.  We heard several people saying how much they enjoyed the challenge of swimming farther than they thought they could and at a better pace as well.

The results are below.
